Top of Image is a picture of what my table looked like at the event. Bottom right is a snapshot of my hat, which garnered much attention. Bottom left is of a water tower on the return trip back.
The day started early for me, as the journey to Collingswood was a long and peaceful trip over mostly clear roads before dawn. After arriving, the book festival volunteers helped us in finding our spot, positioned in the middle of the street, and offered assistance in unloading. We didn’t need the help, but the offer was appreciated.
The boxes, awnings, tables and books were left on the sidewalk, across from our markers, as the rest of the vendors drove in and planted their items down as well. Once the time came to a close, for dropping off our belongings, everyone was allowed to move their stuff to the center of the road. It was relatively a quick set up for us. Many people choose to use their posters and large signs, but with the occasional wind gust threatening to blow them away, I chose to go with a low-to-the-ground display.
The festival ran from 10 am to 4 pm, with various lectures, writing exercises, and author talks scheduled throughout the time frame. With weather as great as we had, many people were out to walk their dogs and chat with family and friends. Overall, the atmosphere was very inviting and held kind of a note from back home.
One of the high notes of the day, was getting to meet up with authors we knew from past events, as well as some new ones! Here are a few of them, and feel free to click on their names to be taken to their respective websites for more information:
James McCrone: author of political thrillers and President of the Delaware Chapter of Sisters in Crime.
Michael Bradley: author of standalone thrillers and a member of the Delaware Chapter of Sisters in Crime.
Diane Vallere: author of cozy mysteries and also a member of the Delaware Chapter of Sisters in Crime.
Jacqueline Boulden: author of standalone thrillers, originally from the area and now residing in New York.
Once again, the day was beautiful out, and I did have the chance to chat with various readers on a variety of topics. Thank-you to Collingswood for the pleasant experience. See you at the next location! #readers #books #bookfestival #authorslife #mysteryauthor #newjersey
