"Real art is basic emotion. If a scene is handled with simplicity – and I don’t mean simple – it’ll be good, and the public will know it.” – John Wayne

Couldn't pass up such a great opportunity to photograph the great "wild west." Went on a family trip with my parents to meet up with my Great Aunt and Great Uncle out near Phoenix. Headed up to Bell Rock, Arizona and stayed there during Tropical Storm Rosa. I was a little disappointed that it was raining so much, but then I realized how rare of an event I was witnessing and was blessed that I was there to see it in person.

When I took a walk up the street, I got soaked through my jacket but enjoyed the beautiful landscape before me. Traveling around the area, we saw many different sites, but one of my favorite was a place called Tlaquepaque located in Sedona. It is the most beautiful artisan market I have ever seen. I loved the ceramic shop there, Esteban's, and did my Christmas shopping while I was there. The main building is two stories high, and the bottom level is filled with fountains and sculptures. Like the one in the picture below, all the sculptures were captivating and moved me. This one really resonated with me.

The Grand Canyon was a site to see, and one I could not believe. It felt like someone had put a green screen in front of me and placed the image there. The expanse of the canyon was immense with the rolling hills and the Colorado river running through this great marvel. there were a lot of people milling about, taking in the view. Different look out points gave a different viewpoint of the Southern Rim, but one of my personal favorite was the look out tower where I captured this panoramic.

I still can't believe the depth that was there. It seemed fake, but looking back on this picture, I know that it wasn't. The place was alive with the rain and the blue skies, but something more than I could ever imagine was still in store for me on our trip.
